Day 41

Today in class there were two people who had to make up their test. So all of the rest of the people in the class had to read in the textbook until the two others finished there test. what we read in the textbook was really interesting, it was about the fall of the roman empire. Also in class we got our tests back. I thought i would get a 100 cause it was easy to me. but i ended up only getting an 82. after i finished reading i got really bored.

Day 39

Today in class we talked about  Caesar Augustus who became emperor after Julius Caesar. Caesar Augustus is also known as Octavian. He  ended up dying because of natural causes and the next emperor was Tiberius.   Once his son died, he exiled himself from Rome. He died at the age of 77 by natural causes. After Tiberius, was Caligula. he was very cruel. After him was Claudius, he has cerebral palsy. He was smart but when it came to talking in front of people he would stutter a lot. It was an interesting day.  If your still reading this, it was supposed to be posted on the 25th but for some reason it didnt post

Day 40

Today in class it was just a review day, we went over everything we need to know and i feel like im going to do great. My grade in the class is on the border so i need to do well on this. i asked so many questions in class today. It was pretty hard to keep up but i did it and i took a lot of notes that will be really helpful fort the test. our teacher actually gave us a lot of the questions that will be on the test. After i finish this blog, im going to study really hard so i can do good on the test tomorrow.

Day 38

Today in class, i thought it would be fun because in the beginning of the class he showed us a song he wrote about rome. it was really funny at first, but after a while it got annoying. we talked about julius ceasar again and how he died. It turns out his own senate called him to a meeting but then stabbed him twenty three times. It is crazy to me because why would they want to kill someone who let their country to such great success. If i was apart of th.e senate i would have never done something like that

Day 37

Today in class we talked about Julius Caesar. He was  was a Roman politician and military general who played a critical role in the events that led to the demise of the  Roman republic and the rise of the roman empire.  Caesar rose to become one of the most powerful politicians in the Roman Republic through a number of his accomplishments. After he overtook Gaul, The senate wanted him to leave half his men behind because they didnt want him coming back in rome and gaining a lot of power.

Day 36

In class we talked about the punic wars.  The three Punic Wars between Carthage and Rome took place over nearly a century, beginning in 264 B.C. and ending with the destruction of Carthage in 146 B.C. By the time the First Punic War broke out, Rome had become the dominant power throughout the Italian peninsula, while Carthage–a powerful city-state in northern Africa–had established itself as the leading maritime power in the world. Rome won all 3 wars and burned everything they could find in Carthage.

Day 35

Today in western civ. class. All we did was compare the United States to Rome. They are actually really similar. It turns out, the US based their government off of Romes old government. Obviously, their governments weren't exactly the same but they were close. They both had the 3 branches (executive, legislative, judicial). And they both had a legal code. Honestly in my opinion i think Romes government was better then ours now. It seemed to work out very well and compared to ours there is a lot more good things and a lot less bad things about the government and laws.

Day 34

Today in class we looked at a power point and listened to our teacher talk. It was interesting, i never knew the people ran the tyrant out of Rome. Other things I learned were that Consuls are elected officials, they only had 1 year in office. they are always aristocrats. Another thing was there was 2 consuls' that were elected each year. One consuls could veto the others decisions. We also talked about how Tarquin came to be king. He married the kings sister then over ruled the king.

Day 33

Today in class we talked about Rome again. We talked about who settled in Rome. The first to settle in Rome was the Latins. They settled on the banks of the Tiber river. The river was situated so trading ships but not war ships could get to Rome. Rome was built on seven hills. The 7th and final king of Rome was Lucius Torquinias Superbus. Some Greeks settled in rome too. Rome actually borrowed many ideas such as: Religous beliefs, the alphabet, military techniques and much of their art.

Day 32

Today in class a few people had to make up the test we took before break so the rest of us had to read in the textbook about the Roman Empire. It was interesting because Rome started to become bigger as Greece started to fall. Rome was founded in 753 B.C. by Romulus and his twin brother. The coolest part about Rome in my opinion, is the coliseum. The next coolest thing to me is the roman army. Finally at the end of class, when the few people finished there tests, we got our tests back to see which problems we got wrong. I couldn't believe of of the problems i got wrong. it was common sense.
